bumble bee

A bumble bee collects pollen from a flower in my garden....

I hope that I can become a better photographer with the examples here on Am3 and by getting your feedback on my images.

One day, I really must make a study of all the kinds of bees . . sure hope they get that colony collapse disorder sorted - so many dying here.

This is a great image, Chris! Love the large, clear eye on the bee. If you don't mind me making a suggestion, I would punch up the contrast a little bit. It seems very flat and one two dimensional. I think if you processed with a bit more contrast, this would POP off the page!

@Tracey: Thank you Tracey for the suggestion - I love hearing different ideas on how to make my pictures better (if we can't listen to suggestions then we will never get better!!). I will try to process a bit to boost the contrast a bit more - I did some of that already and if I remember when I boosted it more it started looking overprocessed and "fake". I think part of the problem is the white background for the image (but I couldn't control that because it is part of my porch!!). I also don't know if the relatively high ISO (I bumped it up because I was in shadows late in the day) also is part of the problem.....
