bethlehem: industrial castle

Posted by Chris (South Jersey, United States) on 7 December 2008 in Business & Industry and Portfolio.

Bethlehem was for many years a busy industrial city, and home to Bethlehem Steel and the large steel processing facility that they had on the south bank of the Lehigh River. The plant is long closed down, and there are plans to convert some of the buildings to a casino and some to a museum of American Industry - but we'll see what happens.

This is the former blast furnace complex, looming like a castle over the deserted grounds.

I love you, God— you make me strong.
God is bedrock under my feet,
the castle in which I live,
my rescuing knight.
My God—the high crag
where I run for dear life,
hiding behind the boulders,
safe in the granite hideout.

Psalm 18:1-2

I hope that I can become a better photographer with the examples here on Am3 and by getting your feedback on my images.

I may not be able to reply to each of your comments - but they mean a lot to me and I thank you!
