beach skies

As you have probably noticed with the number of recent sunset shots I have posted, I really like the sunsets at the place we vacation at (my in-laws house on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia). There are so many ways to try and capture them, and then each night brings a completely new set of conditions, and a new beauty to appreciate.

Blessed are the people who know the passwords of praise,
who shout on parade in the bright presence of God.
Delighted, they dance all day long; they know
who you are, what you do—they can't keep it quiet!
Your vibrant beauty has gotten inside us—
you've been so good to us! We're walking on air!
All we are and have we owe to God,
Holy God of Israel, our King!

I hope that I can become a better photographer with the examples here on Am3 and by getting your feedback on my images.

How could you not want to photograph such beauty and then in turn share it with us...This is certainly a prime example of the skies declaring the glory of God. Beautiful capture Chris.

God rewarded you for your praises, Chris; it's evident in your vacation photos, and this is another gem. The sky is filled with such beautiful, soft colors ... and he water is yellowed by the reflection.

I really like your choice of presenting this in a portrait orientation. Most people show sunrise/sunset in a landscape layout, but this allows us to absorb more of the gorgeous sky. Very serene sky!

@Tracey: Thanks Tracey - when I look at my photos, most of them are in portrait orientation. Something about that orientation works for me - maybe that says something about how my brain works!!

Beautifully put together. Straight horizon, straight pole; mostly straight wave line. And you managed to leave in a small curve of shoreline, too. Hahaha! But the crowning achievement of this photo, IMO, is the subtle but rich beach sky's colors and lighting. No visible geometry there, all strictly the colors and lights of God.

@Viewfinder: Thanks VF - you know me and my straight horizons.....but as you said, the best part of the photo is the part I have nothing to do with - the glory of His creation.....
