Although the trees and bushes are full of spring color, there still are remnants of the fall and winter with a few leaves that are still hanging on from last year. It must be hard to hang on through the cold and windblown winter, but somehow they do.
Seek good and not evil— and live! You talk about God, the God-of-the-Angel-Armies, being your best friend. Well, live like it, and maybe it will happen. Hate evil and love good, then work it out in the public square. Maybe God, the God-of-the-Angel-Armies, will notice your remnant and be gracious.Amos 5:14-15
This was taken at Winterthur a couple of weeks ago, and coverted to b&w in Photoshop Elements.
I hope that I can become a better photographer with the examples here on Am3 and by getting your feedback on my images.

I may not be able to reply to each of your comments - but they mean a lot to me and I thank you!
Those leaves that hang on through the winter amaze me! Beautiful B&W, Chris. What happens to these leaves when the new ones come out? Do they fall off then?

@Betty: Thanks Betty - I honestly don't know (never watched to find out). But I may watch closer now!!
I now have a new destination - Winterthur. Never heard of it before; thanks for including the link. Your shot of the tenacious leaf is very good.

@Viewfinder: It is a wonderful place - the gardens are great to wander around in and the museum has a great collection of historic furnishings. I took a bunch of pictures there recently (and posted about a week ago) but will be back to take more pictures - probably when the azaleas come out.
reminded me of a beautiful short story i once read - the leaf...in it, a sick girl decides she'll die the day the last leaf fell off the tree - but it never does. for an old drunkard painter takes pity on her and paints a leaf on the wall behind the tree. so it never falls, and so she survives. but he dies...
beautiful picture..

@rain girl: Sounds like a wonderful story - thanks for your visit and comment!
You got this leaf nice and sharp! These are beech leaves. They provide a warm color to the woods all winter.

@Anita: They do stand out with their brigh white color when the rest of the woods are leafless. Thanks for your comment!
This has a stangely lonely feel to it. And I think rain girl's story has only added to that effect.
I like it though.

@drphoto: Thank you!!
Looks like some rather harsh lighting you were working with there! You pulled it off beautifully!

@Tracey: It was pretty bright out, but I also boosted the constrast a bit when I converted it.
