Pictures from my daughter's final high school play - The Sound of Music.
Maria (played by my daughter Samantha) is sent away from the Abbey to become a governess at the house of Captain von Trapp. The Captain has 7 children but does not spend much time with them - they remind him too much of his late wife. The children have chased away their previous governesses, but Maria is able to make a connection with them and they take a liking to her almost immediately.
In this scene, Maria teaches the children how to sing the notes of the scale by describing things with each note - "Do, a deer, a female deer; Re, a drop of golden sun.." This is one of the most well known songs from this musical, and it was a delight to see it on stage.
Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints. Psalm 149:1
I am on vacation for a few days and will not be able to comment on your pictures - thanks for stopping by and I will try to catch up when I get back. I hope that I can become a better photographer with the examples here on Am3 and by getting your feedback on my images.
I may not be able to reply to each of your comments - but they mean a lot to me and I thank you!

@Craig: Yes it was great.
I am enjoying the happy faces in this series. (Bragging about one's children is OK, especially if they overhear it!)

@Anita: Thanks - I know everyone brags about their kids - better than bragging about yourself....
This is a really fun series Chris, you must be proud of your daughter being the lead!

@MaryB: Thanks - the tunes are very catchy (they are repeating in my head all this week!).
I take that your daughter can sing if she's playing Maria Von Trapp. Though I have a son who plays guitar and piano and writes music, none of us, to my knowledge, can sing. I think if I had three wishes one might well be to be able to sing --well, of course.

@Twelvebit: Yes - we all can sing (but I can't carry a tune with a bucket!!). My daughter has an excellent singing voice (she gets it from my wife who sings wonderfully as well).
