epitaph

Posted by Chris (South Jersey, United States) on 10 January 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I came across this old deserted graveyard the other day as the sun set. The church is long gone, the most recent headstones appear to be from the mid 1800s - some of the stones are broken and many are very difficult to read.

I want my life to leave more than a fading epitaph on a stone in some empty graveyard. I pray that I can be used by God so that the children I raise, and the lives that I touch, will cascade throughout time. Even if people don't know my name 100 years from now, I pray that in some way I will have left my impact and that the legacy of my life will be felt in the lives of others.

I am reminded of the wonderful song by Nicole Nordeman, called Legacy.
I want to leave a legacy
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love? Did I point to You?
Enough to make a mark on things?
I want to leave an offering
A child of mercy and grace who
blessed Your name unapologetically
And leave that kind of legacy

Live your life in a way to leave your mark on the lives of others. Leave a legacy.....

I hope that I can become a better photographer with the examples here on Am3 and by getting your feedback on my images.

I may not be able to reply to each of your comments - but they mean a lot to me and I thank you!
